Protein Correlation Modes Measured using THz Microscopy: Using a THz microscope I measured the large-scale vibrational modes of protein crystal samples. Specifically, I am studied how these modes change with binding and how those changes are related to function. Graduate student research in terahertz optical spectroscopy. Developing and improving optical measurement techniques, specifically terahertz microscopy, of protein vibrations. Performed simulations to model expected experimental results.
Biomolecular systems properties investigation using various techniques including fluorescence, ATR/FTIR, THz-TDS, ForteBio Octet, Biacore, ELISA, uv-visible, circular dichroism, DSC, and light scattering.
Developed anisotropic THz near field microscopy techniques to measure intramolecular vibrations of proteins, particularly photoactive yellow protein, orange carotenoid protein and FMO.
Designed and implemented one-color and two-color pump-probe techniques using electro-optic (EO) crdsytals (BBO/LBO) and a regenerative amplifier Ti-sapphire system (Spectra-Physic) in 1 kHz repetitive rate. Designed and implemented time-domain terahertz spectroscopy using EO crystals (ZnTe/GaP) Designed and conducted time domain terahertz spectroscopy using antennas.
Developed and fabricated optoelectronic semiconductor devices based on 2DEG, quantum-wells/dots, and 2D layered materials for IR and/or THz photoconductive detector.
